Week 8 · Living it together · Day 52

Hola Mohalla — joyful spirit and strength

Hola Mohalla was established by Guru Gobind Singh Ji the day after Holi as a uniquely Sikh celebration — a festival of chardi kala, of high spirits and readiness. At Anandpur Sahib each year, Sikhs gather for mock battles, poetry recitals, kirtan, horse riding and displays of gatka swordsmanship, all in the spirit of joyful courage. The name itself means “to attack a place” — a reminder that Sikhi calls us to be strong in body and spirit, to face life’s challenges with confidence rather than fear, and to celebrate that strength together as a community.

Today's idea

Hola Mohalla is Guru Gobind Singh Ji's festival of martial spirit — poetry, music, wrestling and swordsmanship, all to keep Sikhs physically and spiritually strong.
