Week 8 · Living it together · Day 51

Gurpurabs — days to remember

A Gurpurab is a day of sacred remembrance in the Sikh year — marking either the birthday (Prakash Purab) or the martyrdom (Shaheedi Purab) of one of the ten Gurus. These days are filled with the sound of kirtan from early morning, continuous reading of the Guru Granth Sahib Ji through akhand path, and langar open to all. They are not just celebrations — they are moments for the whole Sangat to pause, reflect on the Guru’s life and teachings, and be inspired to carry that light forward in their own lives.

Today's idea

Gurpurabs are special days in the Sikh calendar — the birth anniversaries and martyrdom days of the Gurus — celebrated with akhand path, kirtan and langar.

Pick two or three — there's no wrong way to do a day.
