There was once a young shepherd boy who watched the sheep on a hill. It was a quiet job, and the boy was bored.

The villagers heard him and came running up the hill to help. But there was no wolf. The boy laughed and laughed. "I tricked you!" he giggled.

The next day, the boy did it again. "Wolf! Wolf!" he cried. Again the villagers ran up the hill. Again there was no wolf, and again the boy laughed.

But then, one evening, a real wolf crept out of the forest. It ran toward the sheep.
ਮੁੰਡੇ ਨੇ ਚੀਕਿਆ, "ਬਘਿਆੜ! ਬਘਿਆੜ! ਕਿਰਪਾ ਕਰਕੇ ਮਦਦ ਕਰੋ! ਸੱਚਮੁੱਚ ਇੱਕ ਬਘਿਆੜ ਹੈ!"
"Wolf! Wolf!" the boy cried out. "Please help! There really is a wolf!"
ਪਿੰਡ ਵਾਲਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਉਸਨੂੰ ਸੁਣਿਆ, ਪਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਸਿਰ ਹਿਲਾਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ, "ਉਹ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਫਿਰ ਬੇਵਕੂਫ਼ ਬਣਾ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ।" ਅਤੇ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਇਆ।
The villagers heard him, but they shook their heads. "He is only tricking us again," they said. And no one came.

The boy learned a hard lesson that day.
