Week 9 · Putting it together · Day 58

Day 58 — our family sewa project

Sewa — selfless service — is one of the three pillars of Sikh living, alongside naam and kirat. It is the outward expression of everything Sikhi Summer has been building: if you have felt something true in the stories and the Gurbani, sewa is how that truth moves from your heart into the world. The Gurus did not just teach sewa — they cooked langar, they healed the sick, they carried water for armies. Today, your family gets to do the same thing, in your own neighbourhood, in your own way.

Today's idea

Sewa is not something you only read about — it is something you do, and doing it together as a family is one of the most powerful things a Sikh household can practice.

Pick two or three — there's no wrong way to do a day.

Read a Sakhi or story How to Be a Volunteer — the art of selfless service Watch together Guru Gobind Singh & The Lesson of Seva
Go & do it Pick a sewa project together as a family — clean up a public space, donate food to a food bank, volunteer at the Gurdwara, write letters to elderly neighbours, or help someone in your street. Do it this week.
Today's Gurbani

Poorai bhaagi Gur sevaa hovai; Gur sevaa te sukh paavaniaa.

“Through perfect good fortune, the Guru's service is done — and from that service, peace is found.”

— Guru Amar Das Ji · Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji · Ang 123
Talk together

Ask: 'What sewa will our family do? Who will it help? How does it feel to plan something good together?'
